"Xenia" did it again: winner of the Baltic Circuit 2013

The Baltic Circuit race series has a winner who is no stranger to the prestigous Hanseboot-Trophy: the German yacht "Xenia" owned by Dr. Bernhard Buchwald of the WYC (Weser Yacht Club Bremerhaven). Following her 2011 success, she made it to the top of the Baltic-ranking for the second time.

The crew of the fast XP-44 has gained their total of 75,908 points at the start of the season at the North Sea week with a 1st place (ORC 1) at the Capitell Cup Rund Helgoland (helmsman Ralf Lässig) and in autumn at the Flensburger Fördewoche with a 3rd place (ORC 1) at the Flensburger Pilsener Cup with Nils Springer at the helm.

But victory was close this year: with only 0,239 points advantage lies the German team before the Norwegian yacht "Pixeline" owned by Henning Hansen. The X-442 made the 1st place at the Focus Bank Færderseilasen on the Oslo Fjord and the 2nd place at the Helly Hansen Skagen Race, each in their class.

The 3rd place in the Baltic-ranking goes to the team on the Swedish yacht "Feelgood", owned by Martin Nilsson, with 73,904 points. They sailed the Marstrand Big Boat Race and ÅF Offshore Race Gotland Runt. Sailing their Salona 37 fast, they won the long haul to Gotland in ORC B and secured a 3rd place in their class (LYS, big fleet) in Marstrand.

The results of 1120 ships racing the Baltic Sea were scored for the „Baltic Circuit 2013“. 12 regattas in Norway, Sweden, Germany, Denmark and Finland have been involved in the series revolving around the Baltic Sea. The participating clubs allow for the determination of the best regatta yacht of the Baltic Sea together with the German offshore Owners Association. The winners will be honored at the 31 January 2014 at a celebratory reception in the Hamburg Town Hall.
